Overview
My first Oculus Rift VR game environment in Unity. I worked in collaboration with a Digital Design student who primarily modeled the game environment. My role was conceptualizing, designing, and documenting the VR environment along with developing the functionality within Unity. The premise of the project is that an abandoned was city left behind by its inhabitants and the player is tasked with exploring the vacant city. By the end of the eight weeks, we designed and developed this low poly environment that the player could explore in the Oculus Rift, and posted our project to the Oculus Forums (https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/20040/vacancy-small-vr-environment) as a small VR game environment.

Detailed Info
Our project goals were to:
-
Develop a familiarity with 3D virtual game environments and virtual reality hardware.
-
Design and develop a 3D game that supports Oculus Rift functionality.
-
Post the game to the Oculus Forums and learn about engaging in an online developer community.
-
Obtain knowledge of the Oculus Rift platform and make it an available resource for other students.

By the end of the eight-week deadline, we had created a VR environment that could be explored by players in first person and we posted the project to the Oculus Forums where it recieved positive feedback.

I also had future ideas for the project such as scattering clues around the environment in the form of game objects and props and having the environment become an interactive mystery game where the player would act as the detective and figure out why the city was abandoned by its inhabitants.
